SINGING group performed in front of a packed church for its annual spring concert.
The Stour Choral Society sang Bach’s much-loved motet Jesu, Priceless Treasure and Haydn’s Imperial Nelson Mass at Mistley Parish Church on Saturday.
The 48-strong choir was conducted by Duncan Archard, who has been its director for more than a decade, while organist Stephen Smith provided the accompaniment.
Chairman David Shearmur praised the five soloists – Susie Hyman, Catherine White, Guy James, Sam Oladeinde and Laurence Williams.
He said: “They blended splendidly and gave a very high-quality performance.
“It was a very successful evening for which we received lots of compliments.”
The Stour Choral Society is now preparing for its summer concert on June 27 at 7pm in Old Hall, East Bergholt. It will be joined by pupils from Highfields and Lawford Primary Schools to sing numbers from The Lion King and Rutter’s Folk Songs.
Rehearsals are held on Mondays at 7.30pm at Manningtree Methodist Church Hall and new members are welcome.
