A public telephone box has a new calling as a library.
Wix residents came up with an idea to turn their red telephone box into a book swap shop after the parish council bought it from British Telecom for £1.
About 100 books are available to swap from the box which stands in front of the post office on Colchester Road.
Currently the village has access to a mobile library which is available for half an hour once a fortnight.
Postmaster Efty Anwar painted the box and gave it a new lock while shelves have been fitted by resident Sue Lufher.
Entry is available with a key stored in Wix post office.
