A 31-YEAR-OLD man who is terrified of heights is jumping out of a plane for charity.

Craig Fenner, who lived in Harwich until five years ago, suffers from kidney failure and wants to help others by raising £1500 for Kidney Research UK.

Along with his mother-in-law Shirley Edwards, Mr Fenner, who has to have dialysis three times a week, will skydive on October 31 in Cambridge.

“I have been diabetic for 22 years and finally my kidneys have decided to pack up,” he said.

“I was sitting with a nurse having dialysis and she was telling me how much it all costs and it’s an incredible amount of money to keep us alive.

“I thought it was about time someone did something to bring some money back.

“I’m not looking forward to sitting on the edge of the plane but I wanted to do something that would test me.”

A BBQ, raffle and pool night in Harwich have also been arranged to raise money for the charity and for Help the Heroes, which Mr Fenner, who is a chef at Colchester Garrison, also supports.

“I have lived in Harwich nearly all my life and a lot of people there have supported me,” said Mr Fenner.

The event will take place at the British Flag, West Street, on October 24 and entry into the pool competition is £5.
