A HISTORICAL movie theatre will go back to its roots when it shows a silent film.
The Electric Palace, on King’s Quay Street, Harwich, will be showing The Artist on March 2-4.
The venue began showing silent movies when it opened in 1911 and is looking forward to providing a historical setting for a new take on the vintage style.
Chris Strachen, chairman for the Electric Palace Trust, said: “The film is fantastic and at the Electric Palace we mix old with new just like the movie.
“The Artist was made to an old 4:3 screen ratio which we have in the theatre, unlike new theatres with wide screen. The black and white really glow on screen."
The silent and black and white film has achieved rave reviews and is nominated for ten Oscars.
