TWO people have been taken to hospital after a car crashed into a lamp post and fence in Manningtree.

It is understood the driver may have had a medical episode.

The road was cordoned off by police while paramedics treated the two people inside the car. 

Essex Police has confirmed there are no serious injuries.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "We were called to High Street in Manningtree shortly after 11am today following reports of a collision.

"Two ambulances, an ambulance officer and the Basics charity attended.

"Crews treated two patients at the scene before transporting them to Colchester Hospital for further assessment and care."
