John Louis CULLEY
John Louis CULLEY "Pados" Forever in our hearts and memories. After 82 wonderful years, passed peacefully away surrounded by family, on 4th February 2023. A life-long Harwich resident, John loved beach combing, and looking out to sea. In keeping with his ancestors John spent many years working for the railway, and with ships, both at Parkeston and Harwich Quay. In 1989 he achieved a dream of moving his family to live by the beach in Dovercourt. An avid reader and researcher, his fascinations included local history, space, planes, science fiction films, steam trains, gardening, tai chi, and his greatest hobby, motorbikes. As a younger man he worked repairing them, played for the motorball team, took part in scrambling, and travelled to the TT races. He was a founder member of Stour Valley (now Harwich) Motor Cycle Club, and was a well known figure at the annual Essex Air Ambulance Bike Run. John will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but incredibly so by the proud family and close friends he leaves behind. PLEASE JOIN US on Sunday 12 March 2023, at 11am on LV18 (next to The Ha'penny Pier) to celebrate the life of John: our dad, brother, grandad, uncle, partner, and friend. Please dress as you wish. No flowers necessary but please consider a donation to the Harwich Lifeboat.
