KIND-HEARTED police cadets are hoping to bring a little Christmas cheer to elderly residents on Christmas Day.
North Essex Support Team (NEST) will be providing a hot meal and volunteers and Harwich’s Police Cadets and their parents will be delivering the meals on Christmas Day.
Each elderly person will receive a handwritten Christmas card written by a cadet or leader, containing a personal letter along with a number of small wrapped gifts purchased with the assistance of McDonald’s in Dovercourt.
Craig Newnes, managing director of CGN Restaurants and franchisee, said: “I’m so pleased and proud to be assisting the Harwich Police Cadets with unit leader Kirsty Lucas and cadet leader Amy Robinson, as well as Dale Cheeseman, a community volunteer who does so much for the community of Harwich and Tendring.
“It’s a great initiative and delivering a Christmas meal and gift to a lonely, elderly person at Christmas is a lovely idea.”
Harwich Cadet Unit leader Kirsty Lucas said: “This year has been extremely difficult for everybody and despite being unable to meet since March I am so proud that the cadets are still wanting to do something positive for the community. I along with some of my leader team will be involved.”
