AN athletic youngster who is embarking on his third solo charity challenge could one day give Olympians a run for their money.

Lewis Dare, who lives in Dovercourt with his mum Vanessa, dad Dave and little sister Darcy, is gearing up for a triathlon to raise money for Kidney Research.

The 12-year-old is carrying out the ambitious challenge in aid of an eight-month-old boy called Percy Parks, who only has one functioning kidney and has undergone a number of operations.

Vanessa said Percy’s mum worked at Harwich and Dovercourt High School, which Lewis attends, in recent years.

She said: “Lewis has decided to take on another personal triathlon challenge on August 14.

“This time he is raising money for Kidney Research in aid of young Percy Parks who is eight months old and was recently diagnosed with having one functioning kidney.

"He has gone through several operations and treatment at such a young age with many more procedures to come.”

Lewis will be swimming 50 lengths, cycling 10km and running 5km - and he hopes to raise £500 for his chosen charity.

This is the second solo triathlon Lewis has embarked on for a good cause. To sponsor him, click here
