WITCHES, pirates and princesses all came together to raise money for charity in a number of spooky celebrations across the area.
Villagers in Parkeston and Mistley made this year’s Halloween extra special when they decided to raise funds for worthy causes.
280 runners have braved blustery wind and glutinous mud in Mistley to take part in two witchfinder trails, five and ten kilometres each, in support of Acorn Village.
Nigel Spencer, Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Essex, said: “All race participants well deserved the splendid medals which I was delighted to present as they finished the challenging courses.
“I would like to thank Simon Williams for pre and on-the-day organisation of the event.
“Appreciation must also be given to Marshals and Helpers who ensured that everything ran smoothly.”
A few miles away, residents at Parkston Welfare Park have also marked Halloween with a fundraiser.
Over 150 enthusiasts dressed up to add to the atmosphere, while raising more than £400 to support the park and Parkeston’s youth football teams.
Bill Davidson, parish council chairman and district councillor for Parkeston and Dovercourt Vines, said:” “After the last two years of fighting Covid people came out to enjoy themselves from the age of weeks old to over eighties.
“A fantastic night was had by everyone dancing to the Vicounts band.
“The residents have shown that they are fully behind the Welfare Park committee in raising funds making sure that the park and the youth football teams have a safe place and clean place to visit and play.”
