PATIENTS were left unable to reach some GP surgeries across north Essex this morning as phone lines went down.
The problem has affected GPs in North Essex including Abbey Field Medical Centre in Colchester and Mayflower Medical Centre in Harwich.
In Facebook posts the surgeries shared updates with patients.
The Mayflower Surgery said: “We apologise that there is a technical issue with our telephone lines this morning that is causing problems throughout many practices in North East Essex.
“We again apologise for the inconvenience that this has caused this morning and we appreciate your patience.”
The lines went down just before 9am this morning.
A spokesman for NHS North East Essex Clinical Commissioning Group, said:
“A technical issue affected the telephone systems of around two-thirds of the GP practices in north east Essex this morning.
“It lasted under an hour. All systems are now up and running as normal.”
