A TEAM of wind farm workers have joined forces to tidy up their community despite the chilly temperatures.

The wind energy experts from Galloper Offshore Wind Farm spent a day of litter picking along the beach and promenade at Dovercourt and Harwich.

Used to working in all weathers, the 38-strong team wrapped up to clear litter, debris and plastic left behind on the sand and washed up on the shore.

The volunteers responsible for keeping the 56 turbines turning on the farm have managed to collect around ten bags of rubbish.

The hard-working team is now planning their next beach clean which will take place later this year.

According to Sean Chenery, general manager at Galloper, the team feels keeping the beaches clean for residents and visitors is part of their responsibility as port and sea users.

He added: "We are absolutely committed to supporting the local communities where our operations are based, and regular beach cleans are part of that support."

Earlier this year, the firm has funded a festive community art trail that produced nearly 600 hand-decorated stars.
