A NOTORIOUS underpass will remain closed for two days for repairs to the road surface.
The Manningtree train station bridge, which has recently been named one of the most bashed bridges in the Anglia region, will be closed between 9am and 4pm today and tomorrow.
Tendring councillor Carlo Guglielmi has been campaigning for years to improve the traffic situation at Manningtree bridge.
He said: “The complete resurfacing has now been put back until later in the spring because of delays around obtaining the permit from Network Rail to use a large scraper in the proximity of their assets.
“Because of the disruption that these works would eventually create there was a discussion whether to do them or not, but to prevent further deterioration it has been decided to go ahead with the the planned repairs.
“I hope you will all agree that this is the right decision.”
Back in January, a lorry caused traffic chaos after smashing a barrier and leaving the road partially blocked for hours.
The Manningtree bridge has suffered many incidents over the years, including in July 2021, when a van got stuck causing delays around the station.
