AN AWARD-WINNING hospitality giant has announced plans to rebrand one of its luxury hotels .
The boutique Maison Talbooth, which offers unspoilt views of Constable's countryside in Dedham, will take on a slightly different course and entice visitors as a spa led relaxation venue.
A new spa facility is set to open on April 4 and to reflect the change the hotel will be known as Talbooth House & Spa.
The Le Talbooth restaurant, which is set aside the beautiful River Stour, will also undergo a subtle re-brand and go by the name Talbooth Restaurant.
Paul Milsom, who is the owner of the Milsoms brand, said: "With the Talbooth Restaurant celebrating 70 years in 2022, we are of course looking back over the last seven decades, but it is also the time to look forward with the continued development of two of our fabulous properties in Dedham.
"When my father Gerald started at Le Talbooth in 1952 and Maison Talbooth in 1969, France was the dominating influence in international hospitality, hence the use of French in the name.
"Seventy years on this is no longer the case, British hotels and restaurants are now amongst the best in the world, and we wanted to reflect this in our name.
"I suspect my father would have described this, as our version of Brexit!.”
The Talbooth chain has gone through many trials and tribulations, the most recent of which was the closure of the hospitality sector due to the pandemic.
But even in times like these, Paul managed to find the silver lining.
He said:"We were staying by the pool with my wife and two kids during the enforced enclosure in 2020 and we realized we weren’t making the most out of the pool area.
"So we decided we will rebuild the current pool house to have more treatment rooms which will double the scale of the spa.
"Maison Talboth is becoming much more about the spa than the hotel.
"And if we really want to elevate what we are doing , we thought it was a good time to make a statement by slightly changing the name. "
