AN INNER wheel club took part in a sponsored fundraising walk supporting families and individuals affected by strokes.
The Inner Wheel Club of Harwich and Dovercourt walked to raise funds for the Stroke Association on Saturday, April 9.
The Stroke Association was the charity chosen by Betty Roberts, association president of Inner Wheel clubs across UK and Ireland.
Beryl Whittingham, Inner Wheel Club of Harwich and Dovercourt president said: “Betty chose the stroke association as the charity all clubs would support in 2021 through fundraising.
“We’ve been raising money for the past year through collection boxes but because of Covid we had to postpone our walk until now.”
Mayor and Mayoress Ivan and Jo Henderson accompanied the club on the walk as well as Betty Roberts.
Beryl added: “We haven’t finished counting but so far we’ve raised £300, it will be more than that though.
“The weather was really lovely as the sun shone along the promenade, there were about 14 of us that walked.
“We stopped and took in some historic sights, we even showed Betty the Banksy art piece here.”
Mr Henderson took the club to Guildhall with a tour of the mayor’s parlour as well.
