Notable names were in attendance to support the reopening of a museum.
The Harwich Transportation, Railway and Shipping Museum reopened over the Easter weekend In Harwich Town Railway Station.
Paul Day, chairman of the museum said: “We had a soft opening over the weekend, Sir Bernard Jenkin came along for a ribbon cutting and to have a look around.
“We are still waiting on additional grants for disabled bathrooms and ramps but the grant system has slowed down somewhat as the pandemic is dwindling.
“At the moment, everything is paid for by our directors.”
The museum holds a collection of Bob Clow’s most valuable items, Clow was Her Majesty’s inspector of railways and built an impressive collection of railway and shipping memorabilia.
Mannikins provided by Madam Tussaud’s are on display and several of the rooms have original logbooks and details from the 1920s.
Paul added: “Sometimes residents see their grandfathers and fathers names in these logs from when the ferry and trains were in service.
“The museum depicts when Prince George visited Harwich to open the museum, he came in the 1920s to open the station and port.”
