A MUCH-loved pub has marked the Queen’s jubilee in style with an exciting challenge.
The Trafalgar in Main Road, Dovercourt, held a tug of war game, with numerous residents enjoying the bank holiday entertainment.
The challenge was first introduced by Mr and Mrs Stevens, who were landlords of the alehouse back in 1976.
Harwich mayor Ivan Henderson launched the competition, while Lisa Martin-Pepperell, daughter of the previous landlords, presented the cup to the winning pub.
While entertaining residents, pub owners have also raised money for Homestart Harwich.
Jo and Jo Krisman, who run the Trafalgar, said: "The Yearly Tug of War Pub Challenge for The Stevens Cup was won by The Rugby Club.
“Thank you to everyone especially The Trafs team, The New Bell, The Alma and The Rugby Club and everyone who visited The Trafalgar over the Jubilee weekend for their involvement. “
The Trafalgar also had permission to use the green in front of the pub to mark the Big Lunch jubilee, with families thrilled to enjoy each other's company.
