HARWICH’S secret gardeners will be opening their doors to the public next month.
A series of private gardens in the historic town will be inviting people in to look around on July 2 and 3, from 11am to 4pm.
Frances Vincent, from Helen's Green, who is part of the secret gardens event, said the gardens are delighted to be welcoming people back.
She said: “27 gardens are open this year with two new gardens, a third has been re-landscaped and a fourth is opening for the first time in several years.
“There will be something new to be discovered in most gardens and if you haven’t been before it’s a great way to spend a weekend.
“There are courtyard gardens, roof gardens and an underground garden.
“As well as many local visitors we have visitors travelling from around the area and even further afield.”
Entrance is £5 per person for the weekend, with all the money raised going to local charities.
Last year’s recipients included the North Essex Support Team and a community Christmas tree in the churchyard.
Entry booklets are now available from the visitors centre at Ha’penny Pier or Deli 141 in Dovercourt High Street They’ll also be available from St Nicholas’ Church on July 2 and 3.
