AN ART club has thanked residents for coming out to look at and buy its work during its annual exhibition.
Dovercourt Art Club held an exhibition in Esplanade Hall, Harwich, from Wednesday, June 22, to Sunday, July 3, as part of the Harwich Festival.
The exhibition was launched by mayor Ivan Henderson who welcomed attendees back following the pandemic.
Sharon McGarry, of Dovercourt Art Club, said: “Mr Henderson came with his wife Jo for the preview evening.
“I was working that night setting up the paintings and it was very busy but he was very nice and gave a speech alongside our chairman Rodney Byrd.”
There were more than 100 paintings on display over the twelve days for art lovers to enjoy.
Dovercourt Art Club sold 38 paintings and the funds will go into the club’s fund before a decision is made on how the money is used.
Sharon added: “Sir Bernard Jenkin came in randomly which was a nice surprise - he was shown around by one of our members Leslie who is a great artist herself.
“Mr Jenkin bought two paintings from Ann O’Sullivan and she was over the moon when she found out.”
