TWO councillors joined forces to provide a dinner for ex service personnel to thank them for their bravery throughout the years.
Bill Davidson, Ramsey and Parkeston Parish Council chairman, and Tendring councillor Dan Casey thought of the idea together.
Mr Casey agreed to gather ex service personnel from Clacton and Jaywick whilst Mr Davidson arranged the venue
Mr Davidson said: “We had the dinner in Parkeston Community Centre and it was a great success and a lot of fun.
“Dan and I organised it because we thought it would be nice to celebrate the ex service personnel in Tendring.”
Veterans from the Royal British Legions in Clacton and Harwich attended for a meal of homemade fish and chips and an Eton mess desert cooked by volunteers.
Attendees got to enjoy a great meal whilst reminiscing on some of their favourite memories in service.
Mr Davidson added: “Initially we wanted to host the dinner on Remembrance Day to make it really special but we had to cancel because of Covid.
“This dinner was free of charge and we would like to make it an annual event.
“A huge thank you to our fantastic volunteers Jade, Gale and Ashley for cooking and Steve, Paul and Claire for decorating, serving and cleaning up.”
