TRAIN services were cancelled between two stations because of damage to overhead electric wires.
Services running through Manningtree and Ipswich may be cancelled, delayed or revised and disruption is expected until further notice.
Due to the damage, services between Liverpool Street and Ipswich and Norwich are also subject to delays, alterations and cancellations.
A spokesman for Greater Anglia said: “Greater Anglia and Network Rail are sorry if your journey has been affected by this disruption.
“A very limited rail replacement service is now operating between Colchester and Ipswich
“Advance purchase tickets holders will be allowed to travel on earlier or later trains if their booked service is cancelled.
“If your journey with us has been delayed by 15 minutes or more, you may be entitled to compensation for a portion of your fare.
“To maximise space for all customers we do not allow full size bicycles on our rail replacement buses/coaches. This includes e-scooters, electric cycles and folding electric cycles”
