VIEWS are being sought on how five further heritage areas are protected – and how buildings might be preserved in the future.

Tendring Council is developing a series of Conservation Area appraisals for Harwich old town, Frinton and Walton, Manningtree and Mistley, Brightlingsea and Great Bentley.

The council is reviewing places which already have a heritage designation, to ensure they still work for those areas.

Conservation Areas contain details of why they are special places, and set out management proposals.

Appraisals have been completed by the council for the first five areas and a consultation will run for six weeks until November 14.

Jeff Bray, cabinet member for planning, said: “Across Tendring we have many places which are worthy of protecting in this way; but to make sure we do it in the right way, we need your input.

“As such we really want the public’s thoughts on these next five Conservation Area appraisals.”

Consultation events will happen in each area, running from 3 to 7pm, at Parish Hall, Victoria Place, Brightlingsea, on October 10, Harwich Masonic Hall, Ferndale Road, on October 13, Columbine Centre, Prince’s Esplanade, Walton, on October 14, Village Hall, Plough Road, Great Bentley, on October 19 and Foundry Court, Colchester Road, Manningtree, on October 20 More information, go to tendringdc.gov.uk/consultation.
