A TINY town pub will host an exciting evening of live music later this week as part of a regular gig night.

Capturing The Moon will take over the top floor venue of The Red Lion, in South Street, Manningtree, this Friday.

The monthly event is the brainchild of talented musician turned gig promoted Benjamin Brown.

Speaking previously he told the Gazette he launched the gig night out of a desire to bring enthralling live music to his hometown.

The songwriter is well-known for his work with Dingus Khan, SuperGlu and Anna’s Bones, but also now plays as a soloist.

On Friday, he will kick-off the night of original songs with an acoustic set before The Pancakes and Rev  Simpkins take to the stage.

The Pancakes are described as having an “enigmatic English eccentricity” and “hilariously singable” tunes.

Headliner Rev Simpkins, on the other hand, boasts “double bass, French horn, banjo, and a-Capella singing” and a set of “folk-gospel songs”.

Ben said: “These are some of the UK’s best live acts and they are performing on your doorstep.

“Do not miss this show.”

Doors for the Capturing The Moon gig night open at 7pm.

Tickets for the show cost £10 and can be purchased from the bar or by visiting redlionmanningtree.co.uk.
