A TALENTED landscape artist considered one of the country’s most celebrated will exhibit an intriguing collection of etchings at a gallery in a tiny town in Tendring.
Norman Ackroyd: The Infernal Method will be displayed at North House Gallery, in The Walls, Manningtree from January 21 until January 25.
The Leeds-born artist was awarded a CBE for services to engraving and printmaking in 2007, seven years after being elected a senior fellow at the Royal College of Art.
The creative’s 13th biennial solo show at the complex includes two of his annual collections as well as larger, independent etchings from the last two years.
His most recent offering, entitled Littoral, produced in 2022, celebrates the coast of Great Britain, as well as its accessibility and variety.
The Infernal Method, meanwhile, focuses on islands around the South West of Ireland, the Shetland Isles and islands in the North Atlantic.
The independent prints include snow scenes from Yorkshire, the Wychwood in Oxfordshire, islands off Co. Mayo and Connemara, Shetland and St Kilda.
A spokesman for the event said: “At 84 Norman Ackroyd shows few signs of slowing down.
“For at least 50 years he has been acknowledged as one of the country’s most celebrated landscape artists.”
