A RUNNING club has joined a month-long national initiative encouraging people to be more active and healthy this year.
Brantham Running Club, also known as Brantham Leisure Centre (BLC) on the Run has joined the RED January initiative and is looking to bring more activities to the area.
The initiative will see residents take part in some form of physical activity whether that’s running, walking or going to the gym at least once per day.
Greg Kennedy, of Mistley, has been a member of the running club for a year and has been consistently running for more than 15 years.
He said: “The aim is to improve mental health and well-being.
"January is still quite dark and cold and moods can dip especially after Christmas.
“So far it’s been a challenging but worthwhile initiative.
"I haven’t run every day, but I’ve done some form of exercise daily.”
Coaches Hatty Hawes and Clive Thomas introduced RED January to members of the running club.
The club has been running for a year and a half and has 250 members.
It is looking to introduce more fun activities like RED January to encourage people in the area to be more active.
