A SWIMMING club has launched a fundraiser in a bid to buy new starting blocks as it prepares to compete in events throughout the year.
Harwich Swimming Club trains in Dovercourt swimming pool and is looking to replace its current blocks, which have been worn down over time.
Danielle Pickersgill, who is part of the club’s fundraising and social team, said the blocks are important for its members to reach their goals.
She said: “We are desperately trying to raise much-needed funds towards purchasing new starting diving blocks.

“By purchasing these blocks they will help our swimmers to achieve even more than they currently are.”
The club’s current starting blocks are quite old but the anchors are already built into the pool deck, which makes fitting replacements easier.
Cash has been raised through other fundraisers, a beneficiary and donations from a business, however more money is needed.
Danielle added: “We would be most grateful for any donations towards our blocks.”
