A COUNCIL has teamed up with a sports club to revive a quirky village event.
Mistley Parish Council will join forces with Mistley Rugby club to bring back the off-road pram race for King Charles III’s coronation.
The event is in the formative stages with details still being finalised but both council and club are looking forward to it.
Neil Baxter, chairman of Mistley Parish Council, said: “It will be a pram race around Furze Hill and there will be some entertainment in the late afternoon as well.
“There will be an adult’s and children’s course.
"It’s just a fun and quirky community thing we’ll be doing alongside the council.
“Our bar will be open along with the bar in the sports and social club.”
Charlotte Howell, chairman of Mistley Parish Council, came up with the idea and reached out to the rugby club as the two groups share a close working relationship.
Along with the race, live entertainment will be provided by cover band Keystone as well as refreshments including fish and chips and pizza.
The event will take place on Monday, May 29, in Furze Hill.
Entry details for pram race teams will be available soon.
