A GROUP of filmmakers has organised for a short film festival which will excite movie fans.
Essex Film Collective has created the event which is set to take attendees on a rollercoaster journey of emotions in Harwich’s Electric Palace.
Spectators are expected to laugh, squirm and possibly cry with more than 20 short films being shown across four screenings throughout the day.
Michael Offord, head of programming at the Electric Palace, said: “We are thrilled to be welcoming so many talented Essex-based film makers to the Electric Palace through our collaboration with Essex Film Collective.
“The programme consists of an exciting and diverse body of work that should appeal to anyone with a love of film and film making.
“We would like to thank our funders, the National Lottery Heritage Fund, without whom this event would not be possible.”
After each screening you will have the chance to pick the filmmakers brains and hear about their process.
The day will start with a special screening of Harwich Shorts – in association with the Harwich Festival.
This programme consists of films submitted following an open call to film makers by the Harwich Festival during the March 2020 lockdown.
The only restriction being that films can be no longer than ten mins in length.
Lily Streames, of Essex Film Collective, added: “'We are constantly blown away by the incredible work that is being made within our county, Essex is filled with professionals working across the TV and Film industry and we want the world to know.
“We are so excited to be teaming up with the beautiful Electric Palace cinema to celebrate the talent that exists locally and it is even more special that some of our filmmakers grew up in Harwich.
“Writer and director Kate McCoid, who filmed It’s Not Custard, is a true Harwich talent and for actor Lucas Aaron, Nuts was his first professional acting role.
“It is set to be a joyous day and we hope to see you there.”
The event will take place in the Electric Palace on Sunday, March 26, from 10am to 6.30pm.
