YOUNGSTERS are set to enjoy a unique tradition as Harwich’s new mayor takes office next week.
Mayor Ivan Henderson's year in office will come to an end on Thursday, May 25, when a new mayor is elected by town councillors.
The town's mayor making ceremony will take place from 11am.
A unique 400-year-old tradition will see sweet buns – known as kitchels – thrown from a window of the historic Guildhall to waiting schoolchildren.
