NEW plans to add another drive-thru fast food restaurant to a £7million retail park near Harwich have been revealed.
Plans to add popular eatery Taco Bell at the new Stanton Europark have been submitted to Tendring Council.
Burney Estates were previously given the green light to build the 68-bed hotel, two drive-through restaurants, eight business units and a 283-space car park the new retail park in Parkeston.
The six-acre site, which will be accessed from Freshfields Road, is empty grassland and is directly behind the Morrisons supermarket.
Plans for a KFC at the site were removed during the planning process, but hardware firm Howdens later signed up to the scheme.
Now, Burnley Estates are looking to add another drive-thru to the site, in the form of Taco Bell.
The proposals also outline plans to reduce the size of two business units in the centre of the site to accommodate the new drive thru unit.
The Taco Bell will have a drive-thru lane and access to 31 parking spaces.
Parking spaces also include two disabled bays near the entrance.
The internal space is divided into separate seating area, kitchen and service and toilets, with enclosed areas to the side for bins and other storage.
Plans say the exterior of the building will be mainly a grey colour.
A report said the amendments and addition of a new drive-thru unit would “make best use of the space available and allow for a greater level of employment opportunities”.
Bill Davidson, ward councillor for Dovercourt Vines and Parkeston said: “Considering the loss to takeaways to in the original plans, I think it’s quite acceptable to add another.
“I welcome it to start as soon as possible as it would add lots of employment to the area.
“They have only shrunk the two businesses on the site and not taken them away so that is a good thing.”
He continued: “I have seen on the plans that it is a Taco Bell and that would be good, it’s something new.
“Let’s have more competition, get it up and running and get it done.
