A WEEKEND of Napoleonic military re-enactments are to be held at Harwich’s Redoubt Fort and Beacon Hill Fort later this month.
Taking place on Saturday, August 19 and Sunday, August 20, the two locations will see military re-enactments by British and French troops.
This will feature the King’s Own German Artillery, the Buffs and 95th Rifles.
In addition, it will include troop movements, skirmishes and living history displays.
Chris Theobald, from the Harwich Society’s Redoubt Fort team, said: “This is a joint venture between the Redoubt and Beacon Hill forts and we are all very much looking forward to what promises to be a spectacular weekend of Napoleonic re-enactment.
“Admission is by ticket only with limited admissions on each day.
“Tickets can either be purchased in advance online via the Harwich Festival web site at £5 per adult or on the day at £6 per adult.”
Accompanied children under the age of 16 may enter free of charge but will still require a ticket.
Chris added: “It is going to be very exciting and the action will include loud artillery and musket fire.
“This may not be suitable for very young children but for most people it is going to be a lot of fun.”
