A YOUNGSTER has become an ambassador for a non-profit organisation after helping generate funds to help with the running of a beauty spot.
Harry Kidd, who is just six years of age, started collecting cans to be recycled in support of the Welfare Park earlier in this year.
He was recently invited to the site to see how hauls of cans are crushed and readied for collection.
Since then, Harry has become an ambassador for Every Can Counts, a voluntary organisation which raises money for the Welfare Park through the collection of cans and tins.
However, Harry is now taking his involvement one step further by recycling the cans to prevent them from becoming landfill.
Bill Davidson, chairman of the Parkeston Welfare Park and Residents Association Committee, said: “It’s wonderful that a youngster like that is getting involved. If it wasn’t for people like him, we couldn’t afford our park.
“We do that can collection for paying our insurance. We’ve got people from Clacton, St Osyth even as far as Colchester collecting cans.
“It’s quite good, we have a lot of people.”
