CREWS from three fire stations rushed to reports an air fryer had set a kitchen alight in Dovercourt.
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service was called to a property in Manor Road, Dovercourt, at 11am on Friday.
On arrival, crews from Dovercourt, Clacton, and Manningtree fire stations reported the kitchen was heavily smoke-logged.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the kitchen and found an air fryer on fire.
An investigation was completed after the fire was extinguished and firefighters believe it was caused by an electrical fault.
Dovercourt crew manager Norman Gooch praised the resident for getting her young family out of the house quickly.
“We’d like to praise the resident for her quick thinking when she saw the air fryer sparking and catch alight. She noticed it straight away as she was in the kitchen when using the air fryer,” he explained.
“She quickly got herself and her young family out of the house and called us.
“In the event of a fire, that’s the safest thing to do, never attempt to tackle a fire yourself. Get yourself and your family out of the house and call the fire service as soon as you are out of the house safely.”
