A DOVERCOURT primary school has opened a new provision for pupils struggling to engage effectively in mainstream education.
Spring Meadow Primary School has launched ‘The Harbour’, intended to help support the children in developing emotional and social skills.
From there, it is hoped they will be able to reintegrate back into their referring school.
The Harbour is being funded by the local authority and will provide support for Harwich families and all the Primary Schools in the area.
Emma Donegan, head of provision, welcomed all to The Harbour on its opening day.
She shared how proud and excited the team are to open their doors and work with children, families and school settings in the area.
Nicky Patrick, headteacher of Spring Meadow, said: “‘The headteachers of Harwich have been asking for this provision to be situated in Harwich for a number of years and as the Chair of the Schools Partnership Group, I would like to thank the local authority for listening and supporting us”.
Ralph Holloway, Head of SEND and Innovation for Essex County Council spoke at the opening ceremony.
He said: “It is an absolute pleasure to see The Harbour at Spring Meadow to become a reality.
“Any child who comes to The Harbour will know that they are loved.”
