PLANS have been submitted for a mosque and community centre in Dovercourt.
Mutaher Hamid Hussain has submitted blueprints to Tendring Council for the change of use at a former dance studio in Main Road.
The plans include alterations to front and side elevations and the addition of a pergola roof over the side access.
A report said the site is currently closed and was being used as a dance school studio.
Residents have raised concerns over the number of people that could attend the mosque due to parking issues in the busy road.
A landlord of a nearby property said: “At the moment, we do not have any issues with the building alterations but we do however have concerns over the numbers of people that may attend the new mosque and community centre plus traffic flows and parking that may affect our tenant in Main Road.
“I also presume that extra movements will affect all of the other businesses and residents in this area.”
He also raised concerns that opening times had not been included as part of the application.
Tendring Council is expected to make a decision on the application by February 2.
