A SCHOOLGIRL from Harwich has cut off 13 inches of her hair to help create a wig for children who have experienced hair loss.
Rosie Moore, aged ten, from Harwich chopped off her hair for the Little Princess Trust.
Mum Charlotte Tweed said her daughter first cut her hair for charity nearly three years ago when she was seven in April, 2021, and said: “It’s better than just throwing it in the bin."
Charlotte said her daughter cut her hair an inch shorter than planned so it would be more useful for charity and added that she was very proud of her daughter for doing this charity work for the second time.
Charlotte’s sister cut Rosie’s hair at home and later this week the locks will be sent off to be used as part of a wig.
Due to the cost-of-living crisis, the charity revealed that by March 2023, costs had risen meaning it now takes £550 to make one wig, and £700 to then style and fit each wig.
Since its creation in 2005, the Little Princess Trust as well as making wigs, has funded 128 research projects “searching for kinder and more effective treatments” for all childhood cancers.
