TRAIN lines are blocked following a failure between Manningtree and Harwich Town.
Train services running to and from the stations have been suspended after a points failure.
Greater Anglia has said Network Rail informed them of the failure which disrupted a train from changing tracks.
A response team has been sent and accessible replacement buses have been provided by Panther.
A spokesman for Greater Anglia said: “Points allow trains to change tracks, similar to changing lanes or using a slip road in a car.
“At Manningtree, our mainline splits to go towards Ipswich and Harwich Town, and in this case trains are unable to run between Manningtree and Harwich Town.”
The disruption is expected until about 8.45am today.
It comes after an earlier points failure at Colchester this morning, which has now been reported as fixed.
A spokesman for Greater Anglia said: “Greater Anglia and Network Rail are sorry if your journey has been affected by this disruption.”
