A DOVERCOURT mum now has more energy to spend time playing with her little boy after losing an incredible six and a half stone.
Megan Smith says her life has “totally changed” thanks to Slimming World’s optimising plan which allows her to adapt her meals to fit in with her long-term vegan lifestyle.
At her heaviest after having a baby, Megan said she was both struggling to lose weight and was missing out on doing things with her son, including taking photos of herself with her new-born.
Having been a member of her local Slimming World branch for only two years, Megan lost a staggering six and a half stone - or about 41kg.
Megan is now focusing on maintaining her healthy "target weight".
She said: “After losing six and a half stone I feel healthier and much more active.
“I have more energy to run around with my little boy and I’m learning to be okay with having my photo taken too.”
Jackie Harries, manager at Slimming World’s branch in Great Bentley and Little Oakley, explained how food optimising plans can be personalised to all family members including vegans.
“It's easy to stick to and doesn't have to cost the earth," she added.
Jackie added Veganuary – which sees people go vegan for a month – is a great way for people to improve their health.
She said: “People could even just adopt meat free Mondays which will still make a difference to the planet.”
Megan says she had always struggled with her weight since being a child and, prior to Slimming World, had “never found a diet that worked-long term".
However, with Slimming World, Megan has made “permeant healthy change” to her relationship with food where she can still enjoy delicious vegan dishes such as pasta and curries with her family.
Megan said: “Going to my group each week on Saturdays with Jackie my Slimming World consultant, helps keep me on track and gives me the support I need to maintain a healthy weight for life."
