MEMBERS of the Clacton Lions Club are asking the public to bring along any spectacles, mobile phones, ink jet cartridges, hearing aids, and batteries for recycling.
The recycling events will take place at the Fiveways store in Manningtree on February, 10 and then at Morrisons in Harwich on February, 24 - with both events lasting between 10am and 4pm.
The Lions will also be promoting various other projects currently running along with their “infamous” quiz sheet based on musicals.
During the Christmas period, £2,500 was raised for the Air Ambulance, along with donations of just over £5000 to food banks, Morrison’s own charity, and other charities during that period.
The Clacton on Sea Lions Club (CIO) - despite their name - cover the whole of the Tendring District and is part of the Lions Clubs International.
The CIO collect and recycle about 75,000 spectacles each year.
While all donated items are either put to good use to raise funds or to be refurbished or to be given to those who can use them in developing countries.
For over 15 years, CIO have tried to produce an annual quiz sheet to raise funds which go to both local and international charities supported by the club.
