AN employee at Acorn Village is celebrating 30 years of working for the charity by taking on a fundraising running challenge.
Andy Bloom has been working at Acorn Village, in Clacton Road, Mistley, Manningtree, for three decades since he was 21 years old.
He is set to mark the milestone by completing the Colchester Half Marathon on March 17, which falls in the same week Andy started working for the charity.
Andy said: "I have grown to feel more and more passionate about the charity.
"I love the way it provides for the residents I help and their daily life. Seeing their progression, however small, makes each day worthwhile. This has led me to still be working here today."
The hard-working employee has decided to raise funds for the charity by asking for sponsorship towards his run.
He has done so knowing the cost of living crisis continues to impact the charity.
All money raised will go towards supporting adults with learning disabilities to live an independent and fulfilled life.
Jessica Eaton, income generation co-ordinator, said: “We are so truly proud that Andy has taken on this challenge. The completion of this challenge will give Andy two amazing achievements to celebrate, working at Acorn Village for 30 years and running half a marathon.
"We are so pleased Andy can see first-hand what all his efforts go towards. Well done Andy!”
Acorn Village provides residential and supported living, care and support for adults with learning disabilities.
