LABOUR has announced its candidate for the Harwich and North Essex in this year's General Election.
Alex Diner is a housing analyst for New Economics Foundation, a think-tank based in London, and has worked as a political adviser in Parliament and as a local councillor for the Canonbury ward in Islington.
Alex is also a campaigner and has a background as a legal solicitor, representing families from the Grenfell Tower disaster.
Alex said his family live across North Essex and that Harwich was where his grandfather first docked and stayed in the UK as a child refugee in the 1930s.
Speaking after his selection, Alex said: “It’s an honour to be selected as Labour’s parliamentary candidate for Harwich & North Essex.
"I love this country, but we can do so much better. It’s time for a change in north Essex."
Natalie Sommers, councillor for St Anne’s and St John’s, was announced last week as the Liberal Democrat candidate for the constitency.
Conservative Sir Bernard Jenkin is currently the MP for the area, having served in Parliament since 1992.
