HARWICH’s spring ale trail will be returning to the town this May Day Bank Holiday.
The trail will start on Thursday, May 2, and ends on Monday, May 6.
It will see one beer list used at multiple venues in the town.
Organisers say the best way to get to Harwich is to take the train from Harwich Town by simply changing at Manningtree if necessary, for London, Chelmsford, Colchester, Ipswich and Norwich.
The first pub is “less than 5 minutes” from the station.
Co-ordinated by Paul Mellor, of Wharf Brewery and Shiraz Turvey, the Ale Trail began in 2015 after the town's Winter Ale Festival was cancelled at short notice.
Since 2016, it has normally been held over the May Bank Holiday weekend and in 2023 there was a winter ale trail, involving the Alma Inn, British Flag, Crown Post, The Globe, New Bell Inn and The Stingray pubs.
The aim of the trail is to bring visitors to the town to enjoy the historic port.
Beer Lists will also be available shortly before the Ale Trail starts.
