PLANS for a bakery, village green and farm shop and cafe selling local produce in Manningtree have been approved.
City and Country’s 2,700sq ft development has been approved by Tendring Council and is set to open in 2025.
The new site, named the Little Priory Cafe and Farm Shop, will eventually become a sister hub to a farm shop located in St Osyth Priory, another City and Country development.
The single storey ‘orangery extension’ - inspired by traditional Victorian greenhouses or ‘orangeries’ - will have indoor seating for the cafe with further outdoor seating created from terraces to the east, west, and south.
There will also be seven one-bedroom or two-bedroom apartments in two storeys of residential accommodation, with some even having their own terrace or balcony looking onto the village green.
Once complete, Manningtree Park will create 484 “craft-built homes” – including one and two-bedroom apartments alongside one, two, three, four and five-bedroom family homes.
Simon Vernon-Harcourt, design and planning director, said the cafe and shop can be used for everyday activities and added that the south-facing village green was designed for the warmer months.
