An agricultural building in Wix could soon be transformed into a car sales space if planning bosses give the green light.
Cooper Bros Ltd has submitted plans to turn the building at Spring Farm, in Colchester Road, into a car retail space.
If approved, the site could offer space for the retail of cars by The Pre Loved Car Company, a family-operated business offering vehicles to a variety of budgets.
A planning statement said: “The request for a change of use from agricultural to sui generis for the specified building and external yard area is driven by the strategic expansion of the business to encompass car valeting and the retail sale of cars.
“This diversification necessitates a reclassification due to the distinct operational requirements and customer interactions associated with these services, which differ from the agricultural use.
"The change of use supports the business's aim to offer a comprehensive range of services from a single location, enhancing operational efficiency and customer convenience.”
The business would run not only a car sale but also a valeting service from the former farm building.
“By housing both the car valeting and retail operations within the same premises, the business can offer a seamless customer experience, from viewing and testing vehicles to final purchase and collection,” it said.
Bosses at Tendring Council will have the final say.
