A HARWICH woman who has lost two stone after starting to feel “lethargic and mentally drained” is set to launch a new weight loss group.
Teresa Lindsay – a member of Jackie Harris’ Little Oakley Slimming World group - is starting a new meet-up at Dovercourt Central church, in Main Road.
During the sessions Slimming World members will learn more about the benefits of weight loss to the body and mind as well as how to change habits and mindset.
Prior to losing weight, 40-year-old Teresa had a very busy job and lifestyle, relying on convenience and fast food, which made her feel “lethargic and mentally drained”.
She wanted to start a family but was concerned about the increased risks associated with being an older mum, so made it a priority to continue food optimising throughout her pregnancy with help from the Royal College of Midwifes.
Teresa now has a “gorgeous family” and loves to go swimming with her children, which she says helps her sleep better and feel more confident in herself.
She has now lifted the lid on her decision to start her own Slimming World group, which begins on April 30 at 7pm.
Teresa said: “Obesity is becoming such a huge issue across the UK and when I joined as a member, I never dreamed I’d end up helping others to lose weight.
“After completing my training it’ll be a privilege to pass on my experience and I’ll be there to support every one of my ‘slimmers’ right the way through to target.”
Teresa also said she now loves making potato and pasta dishes which her family also enjoys.
Jackie, meanwhile, runs her Slimming World groups at Little Oakley Memorial Club on Saturdays between 8.30am and 10am, as well as at Gt Bentley Village Hall on Wednesdays from 5.30pm and 7pm.
She said: “Slimming World consultants are chosen for their positive outlook and because they genuinely care about the health and happiness of others.
“With Teresa’s kind and warm personality I just know that she will be an amazing support to members, cheering them on all the way to their target weight.”
