THE London Oriana Choir kicked off an action-packed year to celebrate its golden anniversary by performing an exclusive concert at St Nicholas Church, Harwich.
The renowned choir has a packed schedule showcasing its unique choral talents, featuring local vocal group Harwich Sing Tendring Voices.
They premiered a new commission from esteemed composer and choir patron, Cecilia McDowall at their show this week.
Fans were treated to a melodic feast from past events like their gala concert at St John Smith Square, sell-out Christmas concerts at St James Piccadilly, concert at Covent Garden and summer collaboration at Union Chapel.
London Oriana Choir was established in 1973 by Leon Lovett and has been under the musical direction of Dominic Ellis-Peckham since 2013.
The ensemble has been keen on crafting its own classical concerts, as well as partnering with high-profile artists, including Pete Townshend and Madonna.
In 2016, the choir championed women composers through an initiative called five15 which lasted six years.
MD Dominic Ellis-Peckham said: "I am immensely proud to be leading this choir into its second half century.
"During this dynamic season, we will certainly be celebrating the past 50 years but will also have our eyes fixed firmly on the future.
"I was so excited to bring this very special choir to my home town of Harwich and truly grateful to collaborate with Harwich Sing Tendring Voices for this special performance.
"I can’t wait to see what the next 50 years will bring."
