HARWICH Festival will be hosting the latest solo exhibition of a drawer and painter over the next two months - 20 years after a local art club helped him pursue his talents.
The new exhibition by artist Rodney Byrd will take place at the Harwich Arts & Heritage Centre from this month until June 13.
Rodney joined the Dovercourt Art Club in 2004 after encouraging his sons to get involved in drawing after only ever dabbling in it during his school years.
He said: “I have learned all such skills I have now, with the help of the many professional artists that have been and some that still are, members of the club and I have been a member now for 20 years.
“I don’t have a particular style, apart from wanting to paint exactly what I see – Realism I suppose you could call it.”
“I have dabbled a little with Abstract painting, one of which can be seen in this Exhibition, but I still prefer to paint in a realistic style.”
Entry is free and opening times are Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm - but out of hours viewing are available.
