HARWICH'S RNLI crew welcomed a commemorative scroll to its base as part of its journey around the UK.
Four members of the crew signed the scroll including shop manager Ann Brand and water safety leader Ken Kirby.
The scroll marks the 200th anniversary of the RNLI, highlighting the organisation's commitment to saving lives at sea.
Originally thought of by RNLI founder Sir William Hillary, who founded the RNLI in 1824. The pledge and promises inside the scroll are still followed by the RNLI to this day.
Beginning its journey on in March, Westminster hosted a thanksgiving to mark the start.
The scroll has since been travelling around the UK and will finish in October in Douglas, Isle of Man, the former home of Sir William Henry.
This significant event is part of the RNLI’s 200th anniversary celebrations, highlighting the charity’s enduring commitment to saving lives at sea.
The scroll symbolises the work and commitment of the RNLI across the 200 years of service.
The initiative entitled 'Connecting our Communities’ is aimed at bringing together the extensive network and to honour its history of saving lives.
