HARWICH'S new mayor has been inducted into the Inner Wheel Club as it celebrates a landmark anniversary.
Newly elected Harwich Mayor Pam Morrison has joined the Harwich and Dovercourt Inner Wheel Club – a network of groups which promotes friendship, personal service and international understanding as a counter-part to the Rotary Club.
Club spokesman Beryl Whittingham said: "The recently appointed Lady Mayor of Harwich and Dovercourt was inducted into the membership of the local Inner Wheel Club last week by our President, Kath Russell”.
“We know that Pam will add to the support already given both locally and worldwide.”
Ms Whittingham said that to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Inner Wheel, the local club is carrying out tasks regularly for the ‘100 for 100 campaigns’.
She added: “We were tasked with making or carrying out good deeds for worthwhile causes, which is something we do on a regular basis.
“A very big welcome to our new Lady Mayor"
The president’s charities for the year are Dementia, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
Inner Wheel was first formed in 1924 in Manchester, with the Harwich and Dovercourt branch being launched in September 1959.
