HARWICH’S Redoubt Fort is celebrating the army, navy, air force, and marines at an Armed Forces Day event this Saturday.
Redoubt Fort will be open for people to see the exhibits and people will also be able to take part in drill sessions, with the event dubbed “interesting and entertaining” in the “fascinating historic military setting”.
Simon Todd and Grant Harris, known at the Redoubt Fort for their ‘Dad’s Army’ re-enactments, will also be focused on adding all “their military equipment and expertise” to bring National Armed Forces Day to life.
Chris Theobald, a member of the Harwich Society’s Redoubt Fort team, said: “The Redoubt Fort is home to much equipment and memorabilia from both World Wars and the addition of Simon and Grant’s military equipment will mean that there will be a lot to see at the Redoubt Fort on Armed Forces Day.
He added: “Harwich’s Redoubt Fort is a scheduled ancient monument and is a very popular visitor attraction throughout the year.
“There really can’t be many better places to celebrate National Armed Forces Day than Harwich’s Redoubt Fort and our team of Harwich Society volunteers are very much looking forward to it.”
The Redoubt Fort will be open from 10am to 4pm with entrance being £5 per adult with accompanied children being free of charge.
