THE popular Harwich Secret Gardens event is returning next month to once again raise money for good causes.

The event attracts locals and visitors alike with last year’s event raising more than £3,500 and attracting nearly 700 people.

Frances Vincent, chair of the event, said: “People are beginning to realise how important gardens are for health and wellbeing,

“Whilst the gardens themselves vary in size, most are small due to the nature of our medieval town, but what gardeners have created is remarkable and is interesting to see."

Ms Vincent said the event is enjoyable for both gardeners, for inspiration, and for people who just want to enjoy the gardens.

“It is a wonderful opportunity to chat to the garden owners and bump into old friends," she said.

The event will take place July 6 and July 7, with a cost of £5 for the whole weekend, with proceeds going to local causes.

Programmes are available from the Harwich Visitors Centre, Harwich Museum, and also St. Nicholas church at the weekend.
